Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) Surgery Atlanta, GA

When conservative treatments are not effective for symptomatic cervical disc issues, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, or ACDF, spine surgery may be necessary for relief. Our double board-certified spine surgeons at Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians offer ACDF surgery to minimize pain and symptoms for our patients suffering from cervical spine disorders at our clinics throughout the U.S.

ACDF surgery may be recommended when cervical disc issues are causing pain and dysfunction from nerve compression in the neck. This surgery involves removing a damaged cervical vertebrae disc and fusing the spine for stability. Spinal conditions that may require ACDF surgery include:

  • Cervical spinal stenosis
  • Cervical herniated discs
  • Cervical arthritis and bone spurs
  • Cervical degenerative disc disease

This surgery can help alleviate pressure on the spinal cord or surrounding nerves that are not receptive to other types of treatment. Symptoms such as pain, numbness and weakness caused by nerve compression can be alleviated, offering relief for patients with cervical spine conditions.

How ACDF Surgery Is Performed

Our fellowship-trained spine surgeons are experienced at performing ACDF surgery when it is the best option for relief for our patients. The surgery involves a two-phase procedure. First, the damaged cervical disc is removed through an anterior cervical discectomy, which involves approaching the spine from the front or anterior position for direct access that results in less post-operative pain for the patient. The second phase is a fusion of the spine using bone grafts and/or implants to stabilize the spine.

If you are suffering from a symptomatic cervical disc condition, ACDF surgery may be an option to give you relief and improve your level of function. To learn more about this and other treatment options available, contact one of our clinics to schedule an exam and consultation with one of our spinal specialists.

Surgery was a success my left knee is fully functional again. Langer and his staff was very helpful through this entire process they assigned me a top physical therapist Cara which was great at helping me to improve now just up to me to continue to condition myself back to the way I was physically before the injury and hopefully I never have to endure any future injuries that lead to surgery. Overall a great help and experience after surgery was completed. Thank You to Langer and his staff.

Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians are excellent in the work they do. They take their time with each patient and make sure you walk away with an understanding of exactly what you're going through. I have been a patient here twice and I could 100% assure you that you will have a great experience. Further the physicians are very knowledgeable and experienced at what they do. Moreover, the entire staff are welcoming and accommodating to your needs. I work in Entertainment, and have appeared several times on television (Google "David Wells and Ricky Johnson). I recommend and trust Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians.
