Q & A About Total Knee Replacement

Posted on behalf of Atlanta Orthopedic Surgeon

Atlanta GA Knee SurgeryAre you considering a total knee replacement surgery so you can start out 2018 with less pain and more mobility in your knee? If so, you probably have a few common questions related to the procedure.

How long can I expect for recovery time after my total knee replacement?

Recovery from knee replacement surgery varies from person to person. So much depends on your health prior to the procedure. The average person resumes a wide range of activities roughly six to eight weeks after surgery.

Will I be able to return to my normal activities at the same level that I did before my surgery?

In many cases you will be able to return to your normal activities after about 12 weeks. Activities that were painful prior to your surgery are typically executed with little to no pain over time.

Can I avoid a long drawn out recovery?

The speed in which you recover from your surgery depends on many factors. Progress and speed depends largely on your motivation, follow-through, and diligence in following the surgeon and physical therapy instructions.

Surgery was a success my left knee is fully functional again. Langer and his staff was very helpful through this entire process they assigned me a top physical therapist Cara which was great at helping me to improve now just up to me to continue to condition myself back to the way I was physically before the injury and hopefully I never have to endure any future injuries that lead to surgery. Overall a great help and experience after surgery was completed. Thank You to Langer and his staff.

Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians are excellent in the work they do. They take their time with each patient and make sure you walk away with an understanding of exactly what you're going through. I have been a patient here twice and I could 100% assure you that you will have a great experience. Further the physicians are very knowledgeable and experienced at what they do. Moreover, the entire staff are welcoming and accommodating to your needs. I work in Entertainment, and have appeared several times on television (Google "David Wells and Ricky Johnson). I recommend and trust Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians.

Hitting the Funny Bone Isn’t Funny

There is nothing hilarious about whacking your funny bone. In fact, the funny bone is not a bone. It is called that because of the funny – as in hard to describe – feeling you get when that part of the elbow is hit. What you are actually hitting is the ulnar nerve that runs from your neck to your hand. This nerve innervates muscles in the forearm and hand. The end of the nerve has two branches. The little finger and half the ring finger are innervated by these branches.

Three Things You Need to Know About Hip Impingement

That pain in your hip may be signaling a problem with your hip joint that, left unattended, could lead to damage. Hip impingement, also known as Femoroacetabular impingement, is a condition in which the bones of the hip joint do not move smoothly, and the range of motion is impaired.
