About Dr. John Kevyn, Otero, MD
Dr. Otero is an interventional pain management physician who is certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties with additional certification in Pain Medicine by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons and has worked in the field since 2006.
His practice mainly focuses on minimally invasive procedures, physical therapeutic modalities and pharmacotherapy in the treatment of pain. He believes in taking a comprehensive therapeutic approach, utilizing interdisciplinary treatment and multi-modal therapies.
“I enjoy the fact that I can help a patient get debilitating pain under control in a relatively short amount of time,” he says. “It’s an amazing, gratifying thing to be part of that process.”
A native of California, Dr. Otero earned his undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco and his doctorate from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his internship and residency at the University of South Florida before undertaking a pain medicine fellowship through the Department of Neurology and an interventional pain medicine fellowship through the Department of Anesthesia, both at the University of South Florida as well.
Dr. Otero joined Ortho Sport and Spine Physicians in 2023 after many years in private practice in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. Once a professional musician who still enjoys playing a variety of instruments when time allows, he also has a keen interest in architecture and travel. He and his wife and children enjoy spending time visiting points of historical interest throughout Alabama and Georgia.
