What is CRPS?

CRPS is a chronic pain condition typically affecting one limb, though it can spread to other body parts. The exact cause of CRPS is not fully understood, but it often occurs after an injury, surgery, or trauma. The primary symptom of CRPS is intense and prolonged pain that may be accompanied by skin color and temperature changes, swelling and hypersensitivity to touch.

Tips for Managing Your CRPS Diagnosis

Being diagnosed with CRPS can be overwhelming and challenging, both physically and emotionally. It’s important to seek proper medical care and support to effectively manage this condition. Here are some essential steps to consider if you have been diagnosed with CRPS:

  1. Educate Yourself: Understanding CRPS, its symptoms, and its potential impact on your life is the first step in managing the condition. Research reputable sources, such as medical websites and publications, to gain insights into CRPS and its treatment options.
  2. Seek Medical Expertise: Consult with a CRPS expert at Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians who has experience diagnosing and treating CRPS. We can help develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.
  3. Explore Treatment Options: Treatment for CRPS typically involves a multidisciplinary approach, which may include medication, physical therapy, sympathetic nerve blocks and psychological support. Your Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians provider can help you explore these options and determine the most suitable course of action.
  4. Connect with Support Networks: Connecting with others who have been diagnosed with CRPS can provide valuable support and insights. Joining support groups in person or online can offer an opportunity to share experiences, exchange coping strategies, and find emotional support.
  5. Prioritize Self-Care: Managing CRPS involves improving your overall well-being. This may include following a healthy lifestyle, practicing relaxation techniques, maintaining good sleep habits and engaging in activities that bring you joy and relaxation.
  6. Advocate for Yourself: As a person living with CRPS, it’s important to advocate for your own needs and rights. This may involve communicating effectively with your healthcare team, seeking second opinions and staying informed about the latest CRPS research and treatment developments.

Remember, living with CRPS is a journey with ups and downs. If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with CRPS, know that there is hope and support available. Together with proper medical guidance and a strong support system, it is possible to navigate the challenges of living with CRPS and find ways to thrive despite the condition.

Surgery was a success my left knee is fully functional again. Langer and his staff was very helpful through this entire process they assigned me a top physical therapist Cara which was great at helping me to improve now just up to me to continue to condition myself back to the way I was physically before the injury and hopefully I never have to endure any future injuries that lead to surgery. Overall a great help and experience after surgery was completed. Thank You to Langer and his staff.

Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians are excellent in the work they do. They take their time with each patient and make sure you walk away with an understanding of exactly what you're going through. I have been a patient here twice and I could 100% assure you that you will have a great experience. Further the physicians are very knowledgeable and experienced at what they do. Moreover, the entire staff are welcoming and accommodating to your needs. I work in Entertainment, and have appeared several times on television (Google "David Wells and Ricky Johnson). I recommend and trust Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians.
