Relaxing Too Much is Detrimental to Orthopedic Health Atlanta, GA
Back Pain Atlanta GA

“Relaxing” is a subjective term that can mean different things to different people. This is mostly due to the fact that relaxation falls into two broad categories. The first describes activities that involve using as little energy as possible, whereas the second may include sports and other physical pursuits.

Basically, you can feel relaxed doing anything that you love. However, even seemingly relaxing activities can have detrimental impacts on your health. It is important to have a balance between work, rest and play. If one of the three suffers, the others will soon follow.

Sedentary Lifestyle

It is perfectly normal – and encouraged – to take time out from life to simply relax and do nothing. Relaxing on the couch or spending some extra time in bed can allow you to decompress both physically and mentally.

Unfortunately, the human body is prone to seizing up or suffering from other health concerns due to prolonged periods of immobility. Whether you are just feeling lazy or suffer from a medical condition that makes it difficult to move, even moderate exercise can improve muscle and bone health.

A sedentary lifestyle is not sustainable. Problems you could encounter may include obesity, diabetes, joint problems, eating disorders and complex mental health conditions. If you are suffering from joint or spinal problems that are affecting mobility, Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians can provide effective treatment.

Work & Sports Injuries

The belief that hard work pays is admirable but not always true. For many people, the unfortunate reality is that pushing limits results in injuries. Most will make a full recovery, but for those who don’t, the price for pursuing a relaxing sport or career path incredibly high.

Joint and back injuries are common in careers that stem from personal passions. Athletes, coaches, musicians and similar professionals can suffer after years of subjecting their bodies to unimaginable strains. The symptoms of excess may not even become evident until the individual decides to retire.

If you are concerned about the impact of your lifestyle on orthopedic health, reach out to our nationwide Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians offices today.

Surgery was a success my left knee is fully functional again. Langer and his staff was very helpful through this entire process they assigned me a top physical therapist Cara which was great at helping me to improve now just up to me to continue to condition myself back to the way I was physically before the injury and hopefully I never have to endure any future injuries that lead to surgery. Overall a great help and experience after surgery was completed. Thank You to Langer and his staff.

Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians are excellent in the work they do. They take their time with each patient and make sure you walk away with an understanding of exactly what you're going through. I have been a patient here twice and I could 100% assure you that you will have a great experience. Further the physicians are very knowledgeable and experienced at what they do. Moreover, the entire staff are welcoming and accommodating to your needs. I work in Entertainment, and have appeared several times on television (Google "David Wells and Ricky Johnson). I recommend and trust Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians.
